What do the MHSC motorcycle numbers mean?

Top 40 Overall finishers

Numbers 1 through 40 are reserved for riders who finished in the top 40 overall in the previous racing season. The AA-Expert class will consist of the top ten overall, and the A-Intermediate class will consist of the top 11 to 25 overall. A new class for 2004 is the A-Sportsman class. This class will consist of the top 25 to 40 overall. These top racers also get to start up front at each race. The AA-Expert class start on the first row, the A-Intermediate starts on the second row and the A-Sportsman riders get to start on the third row. Many of the AA riders run red backgrounds with white numbers. It is not required, but they do it to make it easier for others to identify them on the trail during a race.

MHSC Series Numbers

The numbers from 41 to 799 are available for riders who want to accumulate season points in the MHSC series. If you plan to race the entire series, then you can request any "open" number. The number has no meaning (class, bike size, etc.) except to you because it's your number. This number will be the same each year, regardless of class entered unless you finish in the top 40 overall for a season. If you do not ride any MHSC races in two consecutive seasons then your number will become available to other riders as an "open" number the next season.

Pee Wee Numbers

We will assign your Pee Wee racers a number when they sign up to race. Since we will not be keeping series points for the Pee Wee racers, they will not have a permanent series number. However to keep things simple we will allow your Pee Wee rider to keep the number we assign them for that season. We will use 1000 series numbers for the Pee Wees.
